The month of September sees Jonathan (@berkreviews) and Corey (@coreyrstarr) watching musicals they’ve not seen. Jonathan was up first to pick and selected The Phantom of the Opera (2004). This take on the musical is directed by Joel Schumacher (of Batman and Robin infamy) starring Gerard Butler as the Phantom, Emmy Rossum as Christine, and Patrick Wilson as Raoul. There are some iconic songs that people definitely cling to, but did this musical have the ability to charm Corey out of her anti-musical position?
Next week: A Star Is Born (1954)
It’s musical month and a new version of A Star Is Born is coming out in a couple of weeks. But neither Jonathan nor Corey has seen any of the three other versions of the story. So, to right this wrong Corey selected A Star is Born (1954) directed by George Cukor and starring Judy Garland, James Mason, and Jack Carson.
Berk Reviews Movie Club – General Info
Corey and Jonathan both realized they had a ton of movies they’d never seen. In an effort to work through their gap list, they started this podcast to ensure they at least check one new film off the list almost every week. Thus, for a film to qualify for Movie Club one or both have to have never seen it or at least not seen it for a long time.
