My Recommendations

Scott Pilgrim vs The World: Duh. I haven’t watched this in a while but damn it’s fun. The music is so good. Sex Bob-ombs should be a real, touring band.

Groundhog Day: Bill Murray gets caught in a day that keeps repeating itself. His deadpan delivery make this a hilarious watch.

The Breakfast Club: I LOVE John Hughes. This is a classic and I think it will resonate with audiences until the end of time. And if it doesn’t resonate with you, you’re just wrong. Haha Bonus points for the great cast (Judd Nelson as John Bender is my personal favorite) and soundtrack that showcases so many of the 80’s songs I love.

What I’m Looking Forward To

Hold the Dark: If you listen to either Movie Club or Top 5 Movies you know I’m a BIG fan of Jeremy Saulnier. He is one of my top 5 directors. With only a few films under his belt, I think that speaks volume to how great they are. His frequent collaborator, Macon Blair, is also a favorite of mine. He has acted in all of Saulnier’s films, sometimes small parts but it still fun when he shows up on screen.  Last year we saw the release of Blair’s directorial debut I Do Not Feel At Home in This World Anymore, a Netflix original. He also wrote the screenplay. With Hold the Dark we see them teaming up again for another Netflix Original. This time Saulnier will be directing with the screenplay by Blair.
