This months theme are movie musicals and, since there is a new version of A Star Is Born coming out soon, Jonathan (@berkreviews) and Corey (@coreyrstarr) decided to watch the 1954 version. The film is directed by George Cukor and stars Judy Garland, James Mason, and Jack Carson. While the film has an entertaining premise, the story of it’s making and the various versions of the film that are out there make for an even more compelling tale (read more about that here).
Next weeks episode West Side Story
Jonathan selected West Side Story (1961) for the next episode of movie club partly because it’s on the AFI top 100 list. The film is directed by Jerome Robbins and Robert Wise and stars Natalie Wood, George Chakiris, and Richard Beymer. So far, Corey hasn’t been a fan of the theme so it’ll be interesting to see if West Side Story can win her over.

Berk Reviews Movie Club – General Info
Corey and Jonathan both realized they had a ton of movies they’d never seen. In an effort to work through their gap list, they started this podcast to ensure they at least check one new film off the list almost every week. Thus, for a film to qualify for Movie Club one or both have to have never seen it or at least not seen it for a long time.
