Berkreviews.com Movie Club – Election (1999)

Corey (@coreyrstarr) had never seen Alexander Payne’s film Election (1999) and picked it for this episode of the high school theme in honor of August. Jonathan (@berkreviews) has seen this a couple of times beforehand, but he managed to gain a new perspective on this film with this viewing. Election stars Matthew Broderick, Reese Witherspoon, and Chris Klein. It pushes the humor in some dark directions that made both Jonathan and Corey uncomfortable.

Next episode: American Graffiti (1973)

Jonathan picked American Graffiti (1973) for the next episode of Movie Club. It’s a classic coming of age film directed by George Lucas and starring Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, and Paul Le Mat. Jonathan had never seen it and it had been on his watch list for a while. Technically, it just barely qualifies for the theme, but it is about leaving high school behind and moving on to the next step.

Berk Reviews Movie Club – General Info

Corey and Jonathan both realized they had a ton of movies they’d never seen. In an effort to work through their gap list, they started this podcast to ensure they at least check one new film off the list almost every week. Thus, for a film to qualify for Movie Club one or both have to have never seen it or at least not seen it for a long time.
