Star Wars Celebration Day 3 – 2017
Day 3 of the Star Wars Celebration started off confirming a belief I’d been forming the last couple of days. While the convention itself is a lot of fun, the Orange County Convention Center staff needs to get it together. The security was super rude and aggressive with fans and new very little of what was going on. Many rooms weren’t prepared for the panels they were hosting and help took a long time to show up. Something that needs to be addressed in the future.
Day 3 was the best of the event
We have been trying to catch all the live podcasts were could to support our brethren in microphones. We started with Rogue Squadcast. It’s a group of younger kids who talk about Star Wars. They were pretty solid and definitely had a strong foundation for their show. But, the Black Girl Nerds were probably our favorite podcast.
BGN had a special guest named Diana Williams who is the Content Strategist at Lucasfilms. She was a great guest and her passion for story was inspiring. Then the host of the episode was Jacqueline and she did a great job. Kai and Mel were also great, but they did take a step back to allow for Diana and then the audience Q&A to have plenty of time. It’s a show I’m planning on checking out and have subscribed to.
Mike and I grabbed wristbands for the Empire Strikes Back screening that also included Return of the Jedi and Force Awakens. We only stayed to watch Empire because it started at 6pm. It is also my favorite of the franchise and seeing it in a room full of other Star Wars fans was not something I could pass up. Every time an actor showed up for the first time the crowd cheered. It was pretty awesome.
That’s going to be the end of our Star Wars Celebration coverage. Mike and I are going to spend Sunday with our families for Easter. However, I think I’ll be checking the live stream for Mark Hamil’s panel. It was a fun time and I hope that I’ll get another chance in the future to attend the next Star Wars Celebration.
